Reiki - a pure form of hands on healing

I have been a Reiki Master since August 1995. I took my master training from William Rand, from The Center for Reiki Training in Michigan.

In 2006, I had the great privilage to go to Japan, with my husband Larry, to Mount Kurama. Mount Kurama is where Dr. Usui received his Reik initation. It is situated on the northern end of Kyoto and for centuries has been known as the "power spot".


Reiki is technique for stress reduction and relaxation. A relaxed body allows for healing of the body. Reiki is not a religion and is not a cult or a form of Wica. It has no dogma and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki or have a treatment.

Reiki works with conventional medical treatments. It has been known to reduce negative side effects, shorten the time the body heals, reduce and elimate pain, reduce stress and create a sense of well being.

A Reiki treatment usually lasts about one hour. The receipant of the treatment remains fully clothed and relaxes on a massage table. I like to play calming music to provide a total relaxation experience.

I have suspended treatments because of family commitments.

Reiki was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Buddist Monk born in Japan in 1865. In 1922 Dr. Usui was on a 21 day meditative retreat on Mount Kurama when he had an enlightening experience on the last day. This experience sent a ray of light through his crown chrakra opening him up to the Reiki energy.

Dr. Usui was over joyed knowing that this was the energy that he had been seeking in order to heal others. He opened a Clinic in Harajuku in central Tokyo, and began teaching classes and giving Reiki treatments.

Usui died in 1926. There is a large monument to his memory and his healing in Tokyo. After his death Reiki evolved and eventually came to the United States in the 1970's. By the 1980's it had spead considerably through the states and eventually found it's way to Canada.
